QUALITY ASSURANCE CENTRE (QAC)

The mission of QAC is to support the college in its efforts at enhancement of knowledge to scale heights of excellence, to enable it to attain the status of Centre of Excellence by introducing quality assurance/ enhancement programmes.The QAC is committed to the goal of ensuring holistic growth and development for the college through pooling of intellectual resources and collaborative efforts, incorporating quality management procedures.Its objectives include developing and improving interrelationships within the academic community, and also with the government, industry and society at large to guarantee mutually respectful and beneficial partnerships, and providing the students on the campus with a range of methods and techniques and clear measures to attain their goals for the future. 

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)

Constituted to ensure the enhancement of the academic quality of the institution, its consistent growth through continuous monitoring of student performance at various levels.

Research Promotion Cell

Constituted with the aim of channelling the research experience and expertise of academics on the campus towards promoting research as complementary part of the teaching-learning process. The Cell works with the aim of developing an orientation towards research in the campus community to provide budding researchers with consultation services and information assistance regarding research projects and programmes. Under the auspices of the Cell, initial steps are being taken for the publication of an interdisciplinary research journal of international standards.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Consists of two student-representatives from each class to ensure the representation of the students' perspective in campus affairs and their participation and involvement in curricular/co-curricular activities. Its objective is to promote healthy practices among students and encourage them to maintain discipline and decorum within and outside the campus.

COLLEGE UNION

All the students of the College are members of the College Union. The election to the various offices of the College Union will be conducted, as per guidelines and directions issued bythe Honorable High Court of Kerala, in the Parliamentary pattern. Class representatives will be elected from all classes who in turn will elect from among themselves, the various office bearers of the Union. The Principal shall be ex-officio patron of the Union. He may appoint a senior member of the teaching staff as Union advisor. The executive of the College Union shall consist of :

  4. The Vice Chairman
  5. The General Secretary
  6.  The Arts Club Secretary
  7. The Editor of the College Magazine
  8. Two Councillors to the University Union
  9. A Representative each from the I D.C., II D.C., III D.C., I P.G. & II P.G. classes.
  10. Two Lady Representatives

It is the duty of the Executive to strive to realize the objectives of the Union and co-operate with the Principal and the staff in the maintenance of discipline.

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

There are two units of the NSS functioning in the College with a sanctioned strength of 200 volunteer

THE PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION

This is an association of parents/guardians and teachers and it tries to ensure the active participation of the parents in the life and activities on the campus. It renders financial assistance to improve the facilities available to the students as well as support in the maintenance of discipline. The Principal is ex officio President of PTA.The Vice President shall be a representative of parents, and the Secretary shall be a representative of teachers. There is an executive committe too, consisting of 4 members each from parents and teachers.

DEPARTMENTAL ASSOCIATIONS

Function under the direct supervision of the department concerned. Students of each Department are members of its Association. A faculty member acts as the President of the Association, and a students representative as Secretary. various academic/non-academic/cultural activities and enrichment programmes are conductud under the auspices of the Associations.

FORMER STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (FOS)

The Former Students Association (FOSA) was started in 1972 as a forum for the alumni of the college to get together and keep contact with the Alma Mater. It serves as a link between the former and present students and orients activities towards the overall development and welfare of the college

DEPARTMENTAL ALUMNI

Former students of each Department meet annually, reconnectiing and refreshing relationships.They also take part in and contribute to the developmental activites of the Department.

WOMEN'S CELL

Women's Cell has a significant role in the activities of the college as it channelises the inborn talent and leadership qualities of the women students, motivates and inspiries them and instils the spirit and power of womanhood in them by organizing various actvities.

CAREER GUIDANCE CELL

Works with the aim of providing assistance and guidance to students to develop their career, making information available regarding opportunities in career and higher studies, and arranging campus interviews. Career guidance programmes, seminars, training in group discussion, model interviews etc.are organised. Career books and journals are made available to students.

HUMAN RESOURCE CELL

Aims at facilitating personality development classes, effective public speaking training, leadership training & life guidance courses; supporting and encouraging students to acquire the skills and general knowledge needed to avail career opportunities.Also promotes ecological concern and emotional and spiritual intelligence among students.

COUNSELLING CELL

The Counselling cell plays a decisive role in the non-academic activities of the college by rendering personal and vocational counselling to the needy students.The service of a professional counsellor is made available to the students twice a week.

CELL FOR ENGLISH COMMUNICATION

Formed with the specific purpose of training students to communicate effectively in English, since the inadequacy in this area is identified as the main stumbling block in their career options. The training programmes of the Cell aim at equipping students with all the necessary hard and soft skills to overcome their language fright, and to supplement the missing links in the curriculum.

POPULATION EDUCATION CLUB (PEC)

From the early 1990's the Population Education Club has functioned as the social outreach facility of the PG Department of Economics. Major initiatives under PEC include organizing several medical camps and conducting Socio-economic surveys. It also organizes workshops for students on social issues of topical importance. It's main objective is to promote social commitment among students

VALUE EDUCATION CELL

Functions with the aim of inculcating ethical and moral values in students. Classes are conducted on Wednesdays, Toppers in the annual examination in Value Education are awarded prizes. The cell is also in charge of the weekly prayer meetings, the annual retreat for teaching /non teaching staff and catholic students, and conducts seminars for non catholic students.

CATHOLIC STUDENTS' MOVEMENT

An organisation for the Catholic students in the college that aims at their spiritual and intellectual growth.

ST DOMINIC'S NATURE CLUB

Registered with the Nature Club of India, and affiliated to the W.W.F.

TOURISM CLUB

Promotes `tourism awareness' in the students

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CLUB

Tries to inculcate entrepreneurial culture in students.

YOUTH FOR PROHIBITION

The aim of the Cell is to alert the students on the harmful consequences of the use of alcohol, drugs and tobacco through awareness-raising programmes.

DEBATE QUIZ CLUB

Functions with the objective of enhancing the intellectual and communicative talents of the students, and encouraging habits of reading & acquiring general knowledge. Conducts quiz programmes and debates on issues of social, cultural and political relevance.

Students' Welfare Scheme

Renders financial assistance to the needy students.

Health Centre

Under the supervision of the Physical Education Department and with the financial aid of UGC,a Health Centre with gym facilities functions in the college. Yoga and fitness classes are conducted here. The services and facilites of the Centre are open to students and staff.

Annual Medical Inspection

Every student of the college is made to undergo annual medical examination.For this,the services of qualified medical officers are made available.

Workshop Facility

This functions directly under the supervision of the Physics Department of the college .The maintenance and repair of the electrical and electronic equipments especially is the work of this facility.The devices and equipments and the services of the workshop are open to the students and teachers.

Computer Lab

Established with UGC assistance, the lab functions under the supervision of the Commerce Department. With the aim of imparting Computer and IT education to students, training programmes are conducted for various batches of students. The services of the lab are available to both students and teachers.

Herbal Garden

Maintained and supervised by the Department of Botany, this is a rich collection of medicinal plants. It helps the students to understand and identify common as well as rare medicinal plants, their botanical names and their medicinal uses.
